How accurate is the Navy method?+
When measured carefully, the US Navy circumference method is accurate to roughly ±3% of DEXA scan values for most adults — the best you'll get without lab equipment.
Where do I measure?+
Neck: below the Adam's apple. Waist: at the navel for men, at the narrowest point for women. Hips (women only): at the widest point. Measure relaxed, tape snug but not compressing skin.
What's a healthy body fat?+
ACE categories: men 14–17% fitness, 18–24% average, 25%+ obese. Women 21–24% fitness, 25–31% average, 32%+ obese. Athletic ranges sit below those.
